I remember diving there with LUEC - Leicester Underwater Exploration Club
(or something like that) some 8-9 years ago. It was cold, dark and smelly.
I think there is/was a hydrogen sulphide problem in it caused with all the
rotting tree leaves.

LUEC had a key and needed permission to go into it for someone, I know not
who!

Wasn't there mention of it in one of the dive mags recently? Might be more
info there...

Swithland was where an over weighted novice stepped off the ledge into 50m
of water and died.

Not a place for the inexperienced.

An interesting display on the history of the place can be found at the
Snibston Discovery Park near Coalville.
